At HOWL, we’ve always been about showcasing the best new writing Ireland has to offer—thoughtfully curated, passionately presented. With that in mind, we’re making an exciting change: HOWL New Irish Writing will now be published every two years instead of annually.
Why the shift? Quite simply, great writing deserves time. Moving to a biennial schedule gives us the breathing room to carefully select and develop the work we publish. It means richer, more thoughtful collections for you, our readers.
But that’s not all—this change opens up space for us to dive into new creative opportunities. We’ll be collaborating on exciting projects between editions, including upcoming Poetry in the Park features with Cork City Libraries and poetry pamphlets in association with the Irish Chair of Poetry. We can’t wait to share more about these ventures as they unfold.
So, what’s next? Our next edition of HOWL New Irish Writing will open for submissions early in 2026, and we promise it will be worth the wait.
Thank you for continuing to support and champion new Irish writing. Onward to a bright new chapter for HOWL!
